After surgery: Expect some discomfort, swelling, and mild pain for 3-5 days. We prescribe:

• Pain medication (taken on schedule)
• Anti-inflammatory drugs
• Antibiotics to prevent infection

Most patients say the discomfort was much less than expected and easily managed with medication.

• Visit 1: Implant surgery + temporary teeth
• Visit 2 (4-6 months later): Permanent prosthesis fitting (3-4 days)

No second visit needed for:

• Veneers / Hollywood Smile (completed in one trip)
• Crowns and bridges (completed in one trip)
• Teeth whitening

Many patients combine their second visit with a vacation - Albania has beautiful beaches and mountains!

• Missing one or more teeth
• Failing teeth that need extraction
• Unhappy with dentures
• Generally good health
• Adequate bone density (or suitable for bone grafting)
• Non-smoker or willing to quit

May need additional evaluation:

• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Heart conditions
• Osteoporosis medications (bisphosphonates)
• Heavy smokers
• Severe bone loss

We'll recommend the best option after examining your bone structure and discussing your goals.

• Swelling peaks at day 2-3, and pressure changes can worsen it
• Follow-up appointments are needed to check healing
• Complications are easier to manage while still in Albania
• Temporary prosthesis may need minor adjustments

Our recommendation: Stay at least 3-4 days after surgery for implants, or 2 days after veneer placement. This gives us time to ensure everything is healing well before you fly home.

• Titanium implant: 20-30+ years (often lifetime)
• Prosthetic teeth: 10-15 years (may need replacement)

Factors affecting longevity:

• Oral hygiene habits
• Regular dental checkups
• Smoking (significantly reduces lifespan)
• Grinding teeth (wear a night guard!)
• Overall health

With proper care, your implants can last a lifetime. The prosthetic crown or bridge may need replacing after 10-15 years.

Timeline:

• Day 1: Consultation, X-rays, shade selection, tooth preparation
• Day 2-3: Temporary veneers while lab creates finals
• Day 4-5: Final veneer fitting and bonding
• Day 6-7: Final adjustments and departure

Results: Immediately whiter, perfectly aligned-looking teeth. Veneers are custom-designed to your face shape and desired outcome.

Option 1: Extractions in Albania (Recommended)

• Can be done same-day as implant surgery
• More efficient - one healing period
• Cost included or minimal extra charge
• Our surgeon has full control

Option 2: Extractions at home first

• Do this 6-8 weeks before your trip
• Allows initial bone healing
• Good if you prefer smaller procedures spread out

For All-on-4/6/8, same-day extraction and implants (immediate loading) is often the best approach. We'll advise based on your specific case.

• Smoothies (no straws!)
• Yogurt
• Lukewarm soup (blended)
• Protein shakes

Days 3-7: Soft foods

• Scrambled eggs
• Soft pasta
• Mashed potatoes
• Soft fish

Weeks 2-12: Gradually reintroduce harder foods. Avoid chewing hard foods on the implant side until permanent prosthesis is placed.

Albania has excellent restaurants with many soft food options - you won't go hungry!
